The Love Is Viral Show Episode 89: Our Wiser Sons with Rocky Garza

Rocky Garza knows first hand how difficult it can be to identify what makes us unique having moved 10 times during childhood. Caught in insecurities and fears,  looking outward he was never able to see his real value or worth. That is until he took a step back and had a long hard look at WHO he was, not just WHAT he did.

Over the past 15 years, Rocky has walked alongside thousands of individuals at Sky Ranch Summer Camp as Director and counseled and supported hundreds while on the pastoral staff at Chase Oaks Church. Now, as a top keynote speaker and culture consultant, he has taken thousands through the Identity Mapping™ process. As a result, they have all been led to understand the most vivid picture of who they are and how they operate best as individuals.

In this episode, we discuss:

The purpose of identity

The beauty of different perspectives

The pressure that society’s definition of “success” has placed on men, causing them to abandon themselves

The importance of men creating space for one another to share their internal dialogue

And what we can do to support and empower our boys and men.

Rocky leads a group called Wiser Sons for men to show up and be seen.

I love Rocky’s advice to be willing to put in the work to know and love yourself, and when you look in the mirror, believe what you see is good.

Gold With Jeanette Schneider Episode 23: Boy To Man with Josh Dittmer

Josh Dittmer is the host of The Live More, Regret Less podcast and I’ve been so fortunate to find him in my podcasting journey. We had an incredible conversation on his podcast about the duality of femininity v masculinity and I finally found a guy who could talk the importance of rites of passage and how we view boys.

Josh digs into the natural initiation he went through that moved him from boy to man, the emotional wounds he dealt with head on, and the desire to learn from elders. We talk physicality meets emotion and a desire to grow into yourself. He harnesses his incredible energy and the own deep work he’s done and coaches men on the transition from boyhood to manhood, influence, success, direction, self reliance and responsibility for your own reality. He is my new favorite Aussie.

I love Josh’s very clear direction, “Boys need roles models to show us how to be men. We learn through experience and we learn through guidance.” I appreciate his emotional honesty and the space he takes up in the world.

Josh, you have a voice and a platform that is very needed. I can’t wait to see what you do with it.

You can find Josh on IG @thejoshdittmer or his website http://www.joshdittmer.com

Gold with Jeanette Schneider Episode 5: A Life In Transition (or “The Fresh Hell” of a Monday In a Soul Crushing Job) with Dan Mason

Today I am joined by Dan Mason. Dan is a nationally recognized career and life transition coach and host of the Apple #1 debut podcast, Life Amplified. His work has been featured at the Huffington Post, The Good Men Project, and the Nationally syndicated Elvis Duran Morning Show. Dan has helped clients in 13 countries discover their calling, leave their soul-crushing corporate jobs, and create careers that are meaningful to their bank account AND the world at large.

Dan and I dig into what he calls the “Fresh Hell” of a Monday morning in a soul sucking career and why it is important to know who you truly are and what desires are just outside that 9 to 5. We talk identity, titles, the reassessment of comfort zones and the death of the old school “American Dream.”

I love this conversation because Dan has successfully moved his clients from muted dreams into actionable next steps after he, himself, left a big deal job in radio to create his own life of service.

I love the way Dan pulls together research and soul. It is so important that we understand why we are chasing money over dreams, whether that is a passed down generational message or if it is time to lean into that secret passion.

Find Dan on Instagram @cscdanmason and subscribe to his podcast Life Amplified with Dan Mason.
